From state-shaped felt ornaments to embroidered tea towels, local woman creates Minnesota-inspired designs for her business
For Elk River’s Lori Jayne Mape, creating Minnesota-inspired designs for her embroidery shop is one way she shares her love for the place she calls home.
Mape has been creating and selling embroidered items since 2013, when she created a page on Etsy, an online e-commerce website where many crafters sell their wares. After initially starting with licensed patterns, she soon learned how to create and digitize her own designs. Her Minnesota-themed creations soon followed, with items such as state-shaped felt ornaments and embroidered tea towels.
