Elk River’s first craft brewery off to good start as brothers look to make it a popular gathering spot
Elk River’s first craft brewery has opened in downtown Elk River, and judging by the initial response, there was quite a pent-up appetite for such an addition.
The owners and operators of Aegir Brewing Co. posted this on their Facebook page after its March 24 opening: “Our opening weekend couldn’t have been more incredible. We poured more than 1700 beers to the nicest, most encouraging group of people imaginable.”
The craft brewery is located at 707 Main St., and it has been part of the downtown streetscape for months after brothers and business partners Tim and Jeremy Jones and a third investor, Jeff Marjamaa, first hung a sign.
They also built almost the entire interior of the brewery from the ground up by themselves, worked through the permitting process with the city and state with the help of Marjamaa’s and nudged at the makings of a new ordinance that will serve as a pilot project for food trucks doing business in downtown Elk River this year.
