The Benefits of Green Space
May 22, 2017
Cities are comprised of more than just buildings and people. The most livable cities are as recognized for their open space as they are for their culture. But city parks aren’t just nice amenities. Research has shown that nature and green space can improve public health by reducing stress and increasing physical activity.
Elk River has long prioritized green space. Nature is central to the community—with 45 parks covering almost 1,100 acres, over 75 miles of paved walkways, and a myriad of hiking and biking trails throughout the city.
Hillside Mountain Bike Park features six miles of challenging trails and Orono Park has a fishing pier, swimming beach, dog park and more.
