Together Elk River: When Elk River Supports Elk River, The Community Wins

Together Elk River Spirit Week, a joint community effort put together by the City of Elk River Economic Development Authority and the Elk River Area Chamber of Commerce, started Sunday, August 23rd and will run until Saturday, August 29th. The event encourages the Elk River community to join together in order to support local businesses and nonprofits during a time when many neighbors are struggling. 

The origin of the spirit week stemmed from the recent and ongoing #TogetherElkRiver initiative. The City of Elk River has been encouraging residents and visitors alike to continue shop local however they are able, and to order products and food online from local sources during the pandemic. Community support will equal continued success for area businesses.

Together Elk River Spirit Week

The Together Elk River Spirit Week will consist of a variety of events that allow patrons to support one another while maintaining social distancing. Mark your calendars for the following events and participate in the #TogetherElkRiver campaign! 

 

Make a Difference Monday - August 24

Volunteer or make a donation to one of Elk River’s many charitable organizations. Call for a list of these organizations. 

Tourist Tuesday - August 25

Take a photo or a selfie of your favorite place in Elk River - it could be a park, a retail establishment, or your favorite eatery. Post it to social media with #TogetherElkRiver. 

Wear it Wednesday - August 26

Wear your favorite apparel or show off some swag from an Elk River business. Take photos and encourage others to do the same! 

Get out/Take Out Thursday - August 27

Dine in or order takeout from one of Elk River’s many amazing restaurants.

Find it Friday - August 28

Grab your kids and have a fun scavenger hunt looking for Together Elk River decals (yard signs, window clings and stickers). When you find them, take a photo and tag the business on social media so your friends and neighbors know who is participating and could use some love from the community.

Continue Your Support

Following the Together Elk River Spirit Week, residents can remain in the spirit of support by staying involved. Here are a few tips on ways to contribute to the success of your neighbors:

1. Look for the Together Elk River decal when shopping or running errands, and post one outside your business or home so others are reminded to participate. 
2. Download the coloring page from the Together Elk River page. Get your kids involved The Elk River City Government’s Facebook page may choose your little one’s artwork for their Facebook album! The city’s weekly Elk River Farmers Market (Thursdays, 3:00-7:00 p.m., Downtown Elk River) is also accepting colored pages in exchange for a $1 market cash coupon!
3. Continue to support local retailers by using their online shopping options and/or calling to place orders. 
4. Buy gift cards to local businesses to use at a later time or to gift to others. 
5. Take out from local restaurants and tip generously as a thank you to essential workers.
