‘We need more housing’
August 14, 2019
At a keynote speech before an affordable housing summit held in Minneapolis this past May, Jennifer Leimaile Ho, recently appointed commissioner of Minnesota Housing, talked about the wide-reaching effects of the housing shortage.
“Over the next four years you’ll hear me talk again and again about the intersectionality between housing and health and education in the economy,” said Ho, who served as senior adviser for housing and services at the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development before assuming her role as commissioner in January.
“We need more housing in order to have thriving economies that work for everyone in order for communities to prosper. We have education, health care, high-tech and manufacturing (interests) talking about the need for more housing.
“This is a defining moment.”
